Sillitoe, Alan

English novelist. 

He wrote Saturday Night and Sunday Morning 1958, about a working-class man in Nottingham, Sillitoe's home town. He also wrote The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner 1959, Life Goes On 1985, many other novels, and poems, plays, and children's books. His autobiography Life Without Armour appeared 1995.
